About Birth Works

Birth Works strives to provide a safe, caring, equipping and empowering service for people seeking additional support, skills, information and guidance through the journey of becoming parents and for the issues such times can raise. This is facilitated through individualized sessions, birth attendance, support groups and workshops.

Having a baby is for many the most personal and exciting time in their life, and it brings with it change, challenges and celebration. With the emergence of modern medicine, and all of its excellent advantages, it has become difficult for many women to maintain, or indeed, regain a sense of normality about the birth process. Fear and a culture of dependency can sadly rob us of our authority over our own bodies and subsequently our confidence to parent as we see best.

How we live in community has also altered the support, guidance and skills available to many families as they adapt to the demands of raising a family and try to balance what is important to them personally, professionally and as a family unit.

Instead of uncertainty and worries, wouldn’t it be wonderful to be confident, clear, calm, knowledgeable, skilled, empowered and balanced during your time of parenting. With my support we will explore fresh perspectives and new ideas. We look at how you might go about planning, preparing and experiencing not only the birth of your child, but the day-to-day life as a parent. We want to make sure the beliefs you hold, the behaviour you live out and the feelings you have actually serve your purpose as you journey into, and through, parenthood.>P>

As your doula, childbirth educator and life coach I am passionately committed to assisting you to explore where you comfortably stand amidst today’s disparity of options and opinions. It is my work to uphold for you the line that you define as appropriate for your birthing and parenting experience in the face of the, at times, overwhelming culture that surrounds this profound journey.
